More than cookies
This policy covers cookies and similar technologies, including local storage, session storage and Firebase-managed browser storage. Their purpose matters even when the browser stores a value outside a cookie.
Some storage supports the service you request, such as keeping a sign-in session or recording your privacy choice. Optional uses are handled separately. The controls do not make all provider storage disappear or remove a file you have downloaded.
Storage used for the requested service
Firebase Authentication stores sign-in information so an account can stay signed in. Sign out to end the application session on a shared device. Browser site-data controls can also clear locally held sign-in information.
A pending email-code step stores the email address, challenge identifier and expiry metadata in session storage so a refresh can restore that step. The sign-in code itself is not saved in this browser record, and expired challenge metadata is removed when restored.
A privacy preference stores the selected region, category choices, policy version and time for up to 180 days. This allows the website to remember and enforce the choice. A signed-in member can also save the choice to the account profile with a server-recorded consent receipt.
Reading controls use local storage to remember the text size, spacing, contrast and motion settings you request. Reset them in the reading controls or clear site data to remove the saved device settings. Browser storage can last until it is replaced or cleared; a browser may preserve or restore a session.
Google security checks
Production account requests are protected by Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise. The security service evaluates request and device signals and can set the _GRECAPTCHA security cookie to assess abuse risk. It is used here for security, fraud and abuse prevention, not to run an advertising campaign.
Security processing can begin when the production website initializes its protection. Google’s own security storage has provider-managed behavior and duration; the 180-day piPhotonic preference period is not a claim about the lifetime of every Google cookie.
Optional categories in this release
Optional analytics would measure website use. Optional advertising or personalization would support advertising or additional tracking beyond the requested service. Neither category has an installed vendor in this release; selecting a category does not start an undisclosed tracker.
Google Analytics, advertising tags, payment checkout and an external AI chatbot are not active. Adding a vendor or a new optional purpose requires its own disclosure and a fresh policy-version choice before that use is enabled.
Regional controls and Global Privacy Control
Choose EU/EEA/UK, United States or another region in Your Privacy Choices. We use your selection to explain the relevant consent and opt-out options. We do not use IP geolocation to make this selection for you.
Optional categories stay off until a valid choice allows them. You can reject optional categories, accept available optional categories or manage them individually. Rejecting optional categories does not block the public preview or ordinary account access.
A supported Global Privacy Control signal is recognized as an opt-out preference. There is no sale or sharing for targeted advertising to turn off in the current release, and the signal keeps incompatible optional choices off.
Change or withdraw a choice
Open Your Privacy Choices at any time, choose only necessary storage or change an available category, and save. A withdrawal takes effect for the current browser without waiting for an account update. The panel reports whether a signed-in profile change has been saved or still needs to sync.
A guest choice is local to the browser. A saved member choice is associated with that member’s profile; it is not permission to change another member’s choices on a shared device. You may need to make a choice again after 180 days, a policy update, clearing site data or using a new browser.
These controls apply to this website. An email preview-list withdrawal or a request to delete account records is separate and can be sent to research@piphotonic.com.
Browser controls and policy date
Your browser may let you inspect, block or remove cookies and other site data. Blocking all storage can prevent sign-in or prevent preferences from being remembered. It does not withdraw a consent receipt already stored in an account; use the site’s controls or contact us for that request.
This Cookie Policy takes effect on October 7, 2026. The Privacy Policy explains personal information, providers, retention and your rights.
