PIPHOTONIC / GEOMETRY THROUGH LIGHT
piPhotonic is a research simulator that turns modeled photon detections into 3D points. Our immediate goal is reproducible simulation evidence for research-lab funding, followed by the design and testing of a future photonic measurement device. Every result keeps its reference, assumptions and limits.
Research simulator · physical validation still needed
THE PROCESS / A + B
Two sampling choices follow the same ideal circle. This introductory animation explains the geometry; it is separate from the staged 3D study below.
Same circle. Shared optical foundation. A laser is photonic too. This comparison tests sampling and a proposed reference convention.

One ideal circle. Both views begin with the same 25,400,000 nm (25.4 mm) diameter.
A uses N = 32; B uses N = 256. Any difference is finite polygon sampling, not proven device performance.
Length readings use nm, with mm for comparison. Displayed digits express the calculation; they do not establish instrument resolution. Inspect units and measurement limits →
Synthetic ideal geometry · no physical scan data · no instrument uncertainty or accuracy claim. Normalization creates neither new precision nor a new value of π.
SIMULATION EVIDENCE / LABORATORY RESEARCH
3,200 scheduled cases across ten objects and two sizes. All 32 browser controls and 3,200 full fresh Node checks passed. The registered native comparison is inconclusive because registered strata are quadrature-sensitive.
We retain the missing optical data, adverse results and model limits. The purpose is evidence for research-lab funding and a future measurement device.
In the simulated Gold/Water cases, adaptive scanning averaged 16.41% completeness and a 4.205 mm clipped gap; the fixed nested policy averaged 22.01% and 3.641 mm. These raw means favor the fixed policy: adaptive scanning recovered less of the surface and had a larger gap. Each policy includes 320 native cases. Geometry sensitivity keeps the registered comparison inconclusive; these scores are not calibrated physical accuracy.
HISTORICAL STAGED BENCHMARK / MODEL 1.0.0
The earlier version 1.0 study: gold, diamond and water across ten prescribed bodies and two reference sizes. A scan that chooses its next observation was compared with one fixed schedule. These historical results remain unchanged.
The adaptive scan observed more cells in all 80 matched comparisons. Its selected-hit point RMSE was lower in 36 and higher in 44. This study establishes no general accuracy advantage.
RMSE describes error in selected detected points. The policies can observe different regions. This is one simulation seed and a specific, spatially unbalanced fixed view-major control; the two conditional Diamond endpoint cohorts are dependent. It is not complete object error or physical accuracy.
The newer version 2 hybrid path adds a bounded selection-aware timing inverse, explicit conditional model-pool weights and reporting-reference-invariant acquisition priorities. Its balanced engineering pilot is a separate experiment; the numbers above are not its results. Neither numerical replay nor a pilot establishes a general adaptive advantage or a working physical device. Understand the current hybrid method →
A closed observed surface, complete uncertainty and general accuracy. UNO’s Law remains physically unvalidated, and π has not been derived from a physical photonic measurement.
WHITE PAPER PREVIEW / CLAIM OF THESIS
Our thesis: test a staged photonic measurement simulator while keeping the shape, reference, conditions and uncertainty with every result. The simulation comes first; evidence from it can support a research laboratory and a future physical prototype.
We call the proposed reference the Photonic Reference Unit (PRU). Its ideal reference diameter is one inch: exactly 25,400,000 nm, or 25.4 mm. Changing units preserves the geometry; physical uncertainty remains.
The one-inch ball is the starting control. The staged simulator now chooses exterior observations across ten prescribed bodies. It shows which points were detected and where the reconstruction is incomplete. Internal transport, pulse and wave models remain separate experiments; they are not yet coupled into this staged scan.
